Erlan Karin Appointed Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Erlan Karin as Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Erlan Tynymbaiuly Karin has been appointed Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and relieved of his previous duties.
Biography and Career Highlights:
Born in 1976, Erlan Karin is a prominent political scientist and statesman in Kazakhstan. He has held several key positions in public administration and strategic analysis:
- 2008–2013: Secretary of the Nur Otan Party;
- 2014–2017: Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS);
- 2017–2019: Chairman of the Board of the Qazaqstan Radio and Television Corporation;
- 2019–2020: Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- 2020–2022: Aide to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- January–June 2022: State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- June 14, 2022 onwards: State Counsellor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Erlan Karin is also an author of several academic works and books specializing in political reforms, counter-terrorism, and regional security in Central Asia.
